Cave Art

The Children worked extremely hard with their work in Topic last term. They made their very own Cave and art work in order to make it as authentic as possible. They are very proud of their achievements!

They created hand art like the ones found in Lascaux Cave in  Western France.

Did you know that there were two types of  Cave Art. Petroglyphs were pictures carved into stone and  pictographs were pictures carved into stone.

Today Year 3 took part in an art workshop, where they created an amazing display for the main entrance of the School. They used a variety of techniques such as marbling and printing and they all had lots of fun - We cannot wait to see the end product!

'Wakey- Wakey' everybody...

We have been getting our groove on and have been dancing to wake ourselves up and prepare  for the day ahead.

We spent the day at Sandfield Farm and had a fantastic day!

When we arrived we were shown where the new Schoolroom was being built and we were told about the changes that are taking place there.

We went on a very long walk and collected natural materials, such as berries, that we ground down to use as paint. We also collected burnt firewood to use as charcoal and then created our Stone Age masterpieces!

This week in maths we have been continuing our work on place value. We have been partitioning numbers in different ways and have used this knowledge to add 10, 100 or 1,000 to a 3-digit number. Some of us used Base 10 equipment to help us!

In Topic we have been learning about the Stone Age. We have produced some superb silhouettes of Stonehenge in Art by mixing paints.
