Making a Volcanic eruption...

We have learnt about how Volcanoes are formed.

Year 3 decided that they would like to go into the Forest are to create their very own Volcanic eruption.

They discussed how eruptions happen and then used vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, food colouring & washing up liquid to demonstrate what happens when a Volcano erupts.

The 2007 Sedgeberrow floods

Today we became journalists and received a visit from Mr Wallbank, who talked to us about the 2007 Sedgeberrow floods, it was very interesting!

Last week we thought of open and closed questions that we could ask him so that these could then be used to write a newspaper report on the floods that took place.

Did you know that the floods only lasted one day and rose by 4.6m [460cm]. The floods caused a lot of destruction but thankfully there were not many casualties! However, most people had to be rescued by either boat or helicopter.

We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Wallbank for taking the time out to come and inform us about the events that took place on the 20th July 2007.

National Waste Week

We have been up-cycling pots and tins for National Waste week - we discussed the importance of re-using or re-cycling some of our old items. The class decided  that they would like to up-cycle the old pots.

The children made designs for their pots [ which were to be transformed into pencil pots] and then evaluated them at the end.

Here are a few of our fabulous designs!
